    Quick Movie Reviews

It's been awhile again since I posted last and I apologize for that.  Today I just thought I would do some quicky reviews for movies I've seen over the last month or so in the theatre.  There are a whole bunch on DVD too, but that would be too many to list.  Now on with the reviews:

    Shrek the Third

Not as good as the first two but still very funny and entertaining.  Definitely a better part 3 than Spider-Man.  Justin Timberlake was actually pretty good as Artie and Eric Idle was good as Merlin.  Everyone else was their usual great selves, although Eddie Murphy's donkey character is getting a bit old.

The animation was even better than the second one and I guess that is one of the main draws to the movie.  I still love their use of modern pop culture in the middle ages setting.

Definitely something you can take your kids to.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

While this was an enjoyable movie, it still runs into threequel-itis and was a bit of a mess.  I think he running time was a bit long and there were quite a few points that I thought were pretty lame.  The F/X were fantastic though and definitely better than Spidey 3.   I'm really hoping this is the last we see of Orlando Bloom in any movie ever but I fear that won't happen.  Chow-Yun Fat was quite good though as Sao Fen and Keith Richards was good in his part as well.  I hate to say it though but I do think that the character of Jack Sparrow may be getting a little played out.

If you stay to the end of the credits, there is a little added scene but it really isn't worth staying for.

    Knocked Up

This was one funny movie.  I don't know if I liked it quite as much as 40 Year Old Virgin but it was very entertaining.  Everybody in it was awesome, including lots of people with small roles that you would recognize from other things.  Everyone should check this one out.

    Hostel Part II

In some ways I liked this one better than the first one.  You got to see a lot more from the killer's point of view and in some cases that was interesting.  It was just about as violent as the first one and it's still not for the weak of stomach.  It even had the dude who played Victor Krum in the last Harry Potter movie in it.

    Ocean's Thirteen

While not as good or fun as the first one, it's miles above the second one.  It had a lot of fun moments and was quite enjoyable as long as you can ignore how implausible it is.  The inclusion of Al Pacino was a nice touch.  As much as I hate to say this, you do need to see the second one to understand one part of it.  Also, Ellen Barkin is still way hot.

Holy crap I've seen a lot of movies.  Hopefully my comments, while brief, will help in your moving viewing decisions.  Between that and the Halo 3 beta, which I loved, I guess I haven't had a lot of time to post.

Hopefully with in the next few days I can make the rounds and see what everyone is up to.  Hope everyone is enjoying their summer (if they live in this area of the world) so far.
