July 09 Hmmm...what to talk about....oh I know!!!!Not much new for me on the gaming front. I did rent The Darkness last week and I'm really enjoying it so far. The graphics look great, although sometimes the movement on the characters' mouths is a little off as in they don't move at all. The voice acting is superb though and the writing so far is really cool. I've tried a bit of multiplier with Ruffneck and it's kinda cool being able to quickly transform from human to darkling. The darklings are not very strong but you can run up the walls and hide on the ceilings with them and then wait for the right moment to pounce on your enemies like a lawyer on a car accident. I'm going to try and get as much of it finished as I can before I take my rental back. I also rented Shadowrun a couple weeks ago. It is a really fun and entertaining game. I would have picked it up except for the fact I don't see myself paying $70.00CDN for what is essentially an online only game. Of course my gaming time has been cut down lately and it is totally for the better. I have a new girl in my life (Carlie). She's totally awesome...she's cute, smart, funny and really nice. She even doesn't mind my gaming (she likes games too) and geeky ways. So far things are going great with her and I couldn't be happier. I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable summer so far. July 03 Robots, Rats and John McClane (review time)Last night I finally got to see what has to be my most anticipated movie of the summer....TRANSFORMERS!!! This movie completely blew my socks off. The acting was much better than I expected, especially Shia LaBoeuf as the main hero. The special f/x was much like those you've never seen. Seeing the Transformers onscreen and alive for the first time was much the same as seeing the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park for the first time. The Transformers look real and alive. They did not look green/blue screened and looked like they were right there with the actors (which they were for part of it since they used animatronics). If this movie doesn't win the Oscar for f/x, I'll be very, very surprised and shocked. Everyone needs to go see this right away...as in RIGHT NOW!!!! I also caught Ratatouille and Live Free or Die Hard over the weekend. Both of them were very good and did not disappoint. Ratatouille lived up to the fine reputation Pixar has created for themselves. It really is worth seeing in the theatres so that you can see the unbelievable animation in all its glory. It is also great for kids because there are no real scary moments and all the kids in the theatre when I saw it really seemed to enjoy themselves. Live Free or Die Hard was a great action movie and I loved it. Bruce Willis hasn't lost a step as McClane. The action was way over the top but that was to be expected. Definitely worth seeing in the theatre as well. |
