September 27 RHCP, LSWII and More!!!Monday night I had the opportunity to go see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers live in concert at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. It was a great show. They played a great mix of old stuff and new stuff. They did however leave out some stuff I would have liked to have heard them play but they can't play everything. The opening group, Mars Volta, wasn't too good in my view but I'm sure they appeal to some people. As much fun as I had at the concert, it was nothing compared to the NIN concert I went to in June. That was simply unbelievable.
Over the weekend I had the chance to catch two movies. I saw Jackass Number Two and Jet Li's Fearless. They were both great movies in their own ways. Jackass was just hilarious. Just as good as the first movie. Had me laughing, and nearly getting sick, at many parts of it.
Fearless on the other hand was very bittersweet. It was a fantastic martial arts movie (which I love), but it was also Jet Li's last which sucks big time. The writing in this movie wasn't fantastic, but it rarely is. The fight scenes were unbelievable. Yuen Wo Ping is amazing at choreographing fight scenes, as many of you have seen from The Matrix movies.
I also picked up an Xbox Vision camera on the weekend too. I've used it in Uno a couple times with friends and it's pretty cool but scary too that everyone can see me. I haven't played any public games yet so I haven't encountered the naked men that other people have. Seriously though, who buys one of these cameras and decides, "jeez I think I'll play some Uno and pleasure myself at the same time for all to see". Obviously this was an inevitable problem given our society, but that doesn't make it acceptable. I know if I had kids, they wouldn't be playing Uno with the camera functionality turned on. Freaks!!!!
Lastly for now, I have been playing a lot of Lego Star Wars II. At first I thought this is a great, little fun game. Now it is starting to get on my freaking nerves. Just something about it. I don't know if it's I'm finding everything repetitive or I'm just sick of building things out of Lego constantly. One thing that does annoy me is the grunting by the characters in the cut scenes as opposed to actually talking. September 17 So Many Games, So Little TimeI was playing a little GRAW late last week with the guys when the topic of all of the games that are going to be coming out between now and the new year. At the moment, here is my list of games that I'll either buy outright or maybe rent first: Definites: Call of Duty 3 Maybes and rentals, i.e. not in the budget yet: Splinter Cell: Double Agent Of course, most of those games are for the Xbox 360 with the exception of Guitar Hero II. These games also do not include the games that I've picked up in the last week and a half. Last week I bought Saints Row after playing my Ruffneck's copy down in Charlotte. This week I picked up NHL 07 (no brainer for me to get a hockey game) and Test Drive Unlimited. I'll admit that when I first played the demo for TDU, I wasn't too impressed. However, my friends told me how fun TDU was in its final form, so I decided to pick it up. It helped that it was $20.00 cheaper than most 360 games. So far I'm really enjoying it. I'm also loving NHL 07 so far as well. I'm really getting used to the new stick control and I have to give EA a lot of credit for going with something so new. Plus I wasn't too impressed with the 2K7 demo. It looks like it's going to be a great fall for gamers with all of the new games and systems (it's Wii for mii). It also looks like it's going to be an expensive one as well. Hockey's Back!!!!This definately has to be my favourite time of the year. NFL football is back, the leaves are starting to change colour, Halloween and Thanksgiving are just around the corner, but more important than all of that is that hockey is back. Traning camps started this week and a renewed optimism for most fans of NHL teams is started again as well. No one knows the feeling more than I do as a Maple Leafs fan. Yesterday, the Leafs held an open practice and I decided to go and watch some of it. I've included a few pics that I took while there. I took a lot more but unfortunately they didn't turn out too well as they were of skaters in motion. Our new coach, Paul Maurice giving charging orders Our captain, Mats Sundin. Of course, what would a trip to a hockey practice/game be without the familiar site of the Zamboni cleaning the ice. I hope all of you hockey fans have an enjoyable NHL season, but not so enjoyable that it comes at the expense of the Leafs. ;) September 06 BEST WEEKEND EVER!!!!I know it's been awhile since I posted and even longer than I visited some of your spaces and I'm sorry about that. I've just been busy dealing with some stuff but that should be done soon.
The other and most important reason is that as some of you will know from reading ICandee's latest entry, I spent the long Labout Day weekend down in Charlotte with her and Ruffneck, two of the most important people to me in the world. To see some pictures of our hi-jinx, you should head over to her space. I don't really have any photos that would add anything to what she has already posted though. God bless digital cameras and there being no need for extra prints.
I'll admit I was a little nervous flying down there on Thursday and it had nothing to do with Ernesto, which didn't turn out to be too bad in the Charlotte area fortunately. Even though I talk with these guys practically every day, I was a little worried that maybe that wouldn't translate to real life. Well it did and the weekend went better than I could have ever expected.
We played games, watched movies, drank beer (I even managed to introduce ICandee to some fine Canadian beer), laughed (sometimes to tears), ate fantastic food (mmm...deep fried pickles) and met even better people. I just can't even begin to describe how awesome the weekend was and how much I can't wait to get back down there again....perhaps even permanently.
The most important thing to say about the weekend is that it wouldn't have been so awesome without ICandee's hard work and planning and I just can't thank her enough for that.
I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend as well, provided of course that you guys did have one. Oh yeah, Torment I definately look forward to our next Madden match as well. Perhaps this week or on the weekend.
One last thing I want to mention though is THE SIMPSONS SEASON PREMIERE IS THIS SUNDAY!! WOO HOO!!! EXCELLENT!!! |
